During the first part of the morning the children were engaged in making healthy fruit drinks - smoothies, healthy lunch boxes and the healthiest mid-day meal they could design.
We then had many visitors from the Area Health Authority to discuss the children's products and to reinforce the work already undertaken covering healthy eating.
We also had an education officer from ASDA demonstrating the healthy foods available in supermarkets.
During the afternoon the children undertook a variety of physical activities we do not usually offer in school.
Finally after school we presented the aspects of the day to parents, including an opportunity to taste everything we had produced during the morning; Shire Services joined us to demonstrate the healthy eating options available offered by "school dinners". |
